Fifty Posts!

This is my 5oth post. I though I'd mark this momentous occasion by posting a artist rendering of myself. It was drawn by Lisa R., a friend who captured the essence of me. In fact, if I should ever have a business, this drawing would be a perfect logo. Today she is a beautiful figure skater, almost a teen, with the biggest and sweetest heart, so much like her Mother's. Thanks Lisa, I love you. Enjoy this beautiful day.

May Day Baskets

Before we get too far into May, I wanted to show you the May Day Baskets I made for my friends. They are just coir pots, a different kind of pot that's not made from peat. The Hershey flowers were perfect, and available only at Easter. I think they should be a summer thing, so cute for favors and treat bags. The vintage May Day postcard really made the presentation. I'd love to thank the blogger who shared the image. I saved it before I knew I would ever use it on my blog. I am worried about the etiquette of blogging and if I'll hurt someones feelings or make someone angry by not giving them credit. So, if this is your image, and in the unlikely chance you are seeing it on my blog, please let me know so I can give credit where credit is due. Do you think that Miss Manners has a Guide to Excruciatingly Correct Behavior, The Blog Addition? I really need it. Enjoy this beautiful, and rainy day.

Happy Mother's Day

My Mom was beautiful, really beautiful, inside and outside. I miss her today, and everyday.

Rummage Sale Finds

Here's today's haul, 3 sewing machine drawers, 1 rustic plant basket,
2 wire baskets, 2 wire topped canning jars, 1 Vera Bradley wallet, 1 domed piece of glass & frame, 1 box address cards, 1 french (well, the words are french!) hand towel

and two beautiful books...Everything except the sewing machine drawers fit into a bag for $5. The drawers were $2 each at another sale, still a bargain! Now the jars and the baskets are in the dishwasher, the wallet is in the washer with the french towel (with a load of towels, see I multi task), should I paint the drawers? I have spray paint left from the lampshades. A glass nob would pretty too. My husband said today, maybe you should get two bags! He's an enabler, and I love that about him.

Denim Jacket Redo

This is the jacket I got for $2 at last week's rummage sale. It fits great, but the autumn themed pockets had to go. I first tried to remove the embrodery. When that failed, I removed the pockets. Of course the fabric under the pockets had not faded. I found a floral fabric that I loved. I made some pockets, sewed them on and now it looks a little like a garden smock. I'm really happy with this project. This is the first time I ever bought a used item of clothing. It was fun to make it into something I really like and will wear.
