I got a rock...

My love for this classic children's show knows no bounds.
It's the only thing I really like about Halloween.
It's also the only show that cannot be erased from the DVR,
EVER!
Yes, I am 58 years old...
It's been a part of my life since I was 11!

Here's what I got at Edwards, besides the apple cider donuts and
snickers fudge that is already hidden in the freezer...
Honey, what are you looking for in the freezer?
Well, honey wanted corn salsa...
and I bought the acorn.
It's really unusual, a fabric body with
a metal top.  So Pretty!
I found this reel of ribbon, just perfect for
a project I am working on for Thanksgiving.

The tags I am making for my Thanksgiving table favors say, blessed beyond measure...
I love when serendipity happens.

It's perfect hanging on my little dresser.

I may try to keep it for Thanksgiving guests...
Seems it's Kristen's favorite too.

Aren't these bags great.  They look handmade but they
are not from local artisans but from India.
I didn't buy these, just took the photo for inspiration.

Got an old suit coat hubby no longer wears?
See where I am going with this?  ;-)

I've made so many flower pins...
Seeing them all tossed in a box does give me an idea...

The sunset.  Hope the little ghosts and goblins get a few rain free hours to get dressed up.  I'm expecting the heroine from Brave and a little monster to visit me.  Our baby grand will be a ladybug for her 2nd Halloween. Can't wait to see some photos of her today.

And me... I'll be sitting out in my pumpkin patch, nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see...

Thanks for stopping by.

Doing it over...

We've been going to Edwards Orchard for only a few years,
but it's a must do... Since we didn't make it to the orchard this weekend,
my dearest took me, late on a Tuesday afternoon.
Let me say that late on a Tuesday afternoon
is the perfect time to go.

There were several other people there, but it felt like we had the
whole place to ourselves.

I love a moody Autumn sky.

Inside we were tempted and teased...

in the very best ways.
Never let my hubby loose in a place like Edwards.
As I browsed the beautiful decorations and trinkets,

he checked out some things too... and bought apple cider donuts
and snickers fudge!
That was after trying all the free samples.

He's bad, that man o mine.
I was having a great time, and
so was he.

See that light?  I'm making one...it's the pulley that really got me.

So many beautiful items, enlarge the photos to shop yourself.

Great ideas...

A familiar face...Anne Marie from NaDa Farm is featured in this book.
Another amazing local girl...so talented, kind and inspiring.

Candles and potpourri...

Squash and

apples.

My guy is too much...He makes me so happy!

Mini pumpkin gourds...

So true, of our family...What is normal anyway?

The sky was amazing,

and the colors on the ground just intensely beautifully Autumn.
I'll post about what I bought soon. Thanks for stopping by and for your kind comments.
Enjoy this beautiful day.

A Bright Spot

Last week my old pal Laura and I made our annual trip to
Long Grove.  Unfortunately, so many of the businesses that
drew us to visit are long gone.  There are many vacant storefronts,
including the Apple Haus, a must visit stop every fall.
The bright spot for me is my favorite store,
Mangel Gifts.
There are always unique things to see and purchase.
The owner and visionary Doug, is still
one of the most original designers.
You just need to walk in his store for inspiration,
and those unique items that make people ask, "Where did you
get that!"

I thought that this advent garland was beautiful.  A library pocket for each
day, filled with a sentiment.

My mysterious friend.  I was teasing her because of her texting.
I am faster with one finger than she is with two.

The setting of this restaurant is right near the Mill.
I was eating when it was lunch time for all the resident ducks and geese.
I didn't know what was happening, all the fowl were walking right up
to the windows.  A worker tossed a large bucket of grain a few minutes
after all the birds gathered.  It was quite a sight that I missed
photographing because of my barbecue chicken sandwich and the
mess I was making of it and myself.
Note to self...sauce on the side next time!

Still I remember the many many years of great times I've had
with my family and friends at Long Grove.
I hope that the few stores still there can hold on.
Surely when the economy rebounds, a renaissance
of  Long Grove would make me happy.

This might be my last post from my PC for a little while.
The last thing to move out and relocate.
As Carl Sandburg once said,
"I don't know where I'm going,
but I'm on my way."

Thanks for stopping by my friends.  Enjoy this beautiful day.

Weekend Update, Sick with a cold edition...

Looking out my front door this morning...
Wondering where the weekend went.  Lost in a snotty, congested
head cold.  My first in a very long while.
My two little nieces are no match for hand washing and hand sanitizer.
They've been like this for weeks.
That's what happens when you go to kindergarten.

When this tree was planted I hoped it would
be a maple that turned red in the fall.
Such a cheerful thing to see.

Still managing to get a few Autumn touches here...

and there.

Though the move is going painfully slow,
I am finding places to use some of my
storage items in a new way.
Just outside the main bathroom.

I caught the frost before the sun got it.

Funny how hardy some things are and delicate some others are... going, going, gone.
Melanie, your coleus is rooting safely inside.

Even a short ride was too much, the way I was feeling.
While my dearest helped a friend in need,
I sat and watched The Phantom of the Opera, (Yes Lynne, because of you!)
and a Michael Feinstein tribute to Frank Sinatra
and called it a weekend.
Can I have a do over please?
Thanks so much for stopping by...Enjoy this beautiful, sniff, day! Aaaaccccchhhooo!
