Anne Marie's NaDa Farm Sale

Once again, I was so impressed by how beautiful everything was at the NaDa Farm Sale. Lovely displays, vintage items, one of a kind crafts and nature's bounty filled antique pieces and every nook and cranny of the space. Creative use of dirt, flower pots, twigs and branches, filling containers to overflowing. It was so nicely done, with so much attention to detail. I can't imagine all the work that went into hosting this sale. Anne Marie is grace personified. It's a pleasure to spend time with her. Even when she is pulled in ten different directions, she still manages to be a gracious hostess.
Jennifer Rizzo is another dynamo. So talented and full of great ideas. It's always a pleasure to see her. She hosted the blogging event that got me started.
I wish I had more time to spend, to examine all the displays, and meet all the wonderful women involved. Still I came away INSPIRED, and with a few goodies.
Thanks to to Anne Marie and her beautiful family for their hospitality, and to Jennifer for the extra hug on my way out.

Trick or Treat Boxes

I always try to remember my Guild sisters with a little token for the season. This Halloween I found these boxes here and made them for the girls. We meet at the beginning of the month, so it's a little early, but they would never refuse chocolate! A little orange crochet thread and a scary spider finished off the boxes of Hershey miniatures.

Thank you to Don't Eat the Paste for generously sharing this cute little project.

What are you doing this weekend? I'm going to the NADA FARM SALE! I can't wait to see what Anne Marie and the girls have come up with. It's gonna be beautiful! Have a great weekend.

Fall Cleanup Quick Craft

I didn't loaf around the whole weekend. We started the fall cleanup around the old homestead. While my assistant got the chainsaw working, I was crafting! We have plenty of wild grapevines. In fact, one tried to take my life by tripping me! I flew at least six feet before I hit ground. Luckily, I'm build like, well, let's just say I'm sturdy. Anyway, back to the craft... I have this Annabelle hydrangea that grew to immense proportions this year. There are many beautiful dried flower heads still on the bush. I made a grapevine wreath by twisting the vines into a circle, and then cut hydrangea blossoms, inserting them and wrapping their stems into the grapevine. It's not an original idea, I saw it in an old Debbie Mumm Autumn book. It's so pretty, easy and free.

I love the way broom corn looks, and my local nursery has beautiful bunches. The only problem is the squirrels that also love the seeds. Many a time I've scared a squirrel munching away, or should I say, they have scared me!

I've played with the mantle a bit and decided the mirror, leaves, lights and hurricanes will be lovely till Thanksgiving... just 50 or so days away... I've got so much to do! I also have a Craft Auction that my Women's Club sponsors in November, and my Guild is hosting the event. I won't complain since I love a project, and have 23 fantastic women to help. Have you ever hosted an similar event? I'd love to hear any tips you might have to make it special, welcoming and successful. Thanks for stopping by, I so appreciate your comments and kind words. Enjoy this beautiful day.

Quick Pics and My Mini Ode to Halloween

After saying no one will see my new quilty thingy except us, I thought, why? Here it is. Should have ironed the pillowcases for a nicer picture.

I've said before that I don't do much in the Halloween department, but I do like this raven...nevermore...nevermore...
On this peg rack, that at one time had geese on it... Ok, who didn't have geese everywhere in the 80's! Well, it has my witch hat, a mini witch hat for visiting lil' witches, a couple of brooms, my Buscia's woolen shawl, my Dad's beret (he loved all things French too) and my hubby's cane. (broken hip, long story) That's my kids, Kris, Jon and Mike! That's it, where my decorating ends for Halloween. Oh, I also plug in two lighted jack o lanterns. What can I say, oh yeah...BOOOOOO!

Weekend Update October

With time passing so quickly, I take this time to savor the fleeting October sunshine. Enjoying the crisp breezes, snuggling in for the winter to come.

It's hard to plant mums when you still have mounds of impatients, zinnias and marigolds still in full flower. Until the frost, I think I'll let them be.

Have you seen this quilt in a bag? It's a little something I bought for myself. It's not really a quilt but a printed quilty thingy, very pretty and warm. It's been washed and put on the bed, and I made pillowcases to match. Even though no one will see it except me and my guy, it makes me happy.

Today, I'll put out my few Halloween decorations, for the little bird. She's all about this Halloween thing, talking of bats and candy.
Mostly, I'm just gonna enjoy today, a nap sounds great and a long walk on our new path...
Oh, the delicious pleasure of a October weekend.
Go Bears!!!
