Galena, Part Two

Parts of the movie, Field of Dreams was filmed in Galena.
This marquee was used in the film when Doc Graham walks the
street at night.  Hey, is that Kevin Costner?

These stairs are a famous landmark in Galena...
Is that Amy Madigan?
(What I am doing here is referencing the stars of the movie...:-)

These are the flood gates that protect the town from flooding.
The Galena River flows into town.
It's a tributary of the might Mississippi River.

Most of the homes are beautifully restored.

We lunched at Happy Joe's, another family tradition.
It's just not the same without the kids...

Then, on the way home we always visit Eagle Ridge Territory.
We stayed in this home every summer for years.
It is filled with memories from when the kids were small,
and were entertained by swimming, walking a country road,
(except for Kristen who "hated" nature...
little surprise she ended up in NY!;-) and Uno till they got tired.

The house is actually for sale...if only...

The way home... such a great way to spend a vacation day.

We have a beautiful state!  Thanks for stopping by.  Enjoy this beautiful day.

Thanks for the Field of Dreams and Galena memories.

Love your vacation home . . . wouldn't that be fun to buy.

I LOL at Kristin not. being a nature person . . . she is in her element in the Big Apple!

Enjoy a beautiful day Penny. I hope your weather is as glorious as ours!

We love Galena, too. Not sure if I knew it was in Field of Dreams, though....last time we went the kids were smaller and we stayed at an alpaca farm!

I'm so jealous that you were in Galena - that's one of mine and Brian's favorite weekend getaways! I'm familiar with all the shops you highlighted...and even with that leg lamp in the window!
