When the house looks sad...

Doesn't the house look sad when all the holiday decorations come down? It's so hard to know what to do to cheer things up. It's still, in fact winter, and it is here in a big way. The temperature is still in the minus column, the two feet of snow won't be going anywhere any time soon. These are the hardest days of the year as far as I'm concerned. Failure to launch...into the new year!

All I have to show is cozy canning jars. Little projects is all I have the attention span for.

A gift from my hubby, the four seasons of Beekman 1802 soaps. They came with a handwritten card and Josh and Brent's signatures. The coolest packaging, beautiful wooden box with a screen door lid. Thanks honey!

I used this wrapping paper on all my gifts, and wrapped these two dictionaries as risers for my lamp. They are going to stay.

So was everyone watching Downton Abbey on Sunday night? Our local PBS station played the last episode leading up to the new episodes. Watching that episode was so painful, knowing how it would end. I love a beautifully made series, such as Downton Abbey. I will be watching and hoping for some happier times for the characters there.

One week into the new year. Seems from years past it takes a while for the new year to take hold. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Thanks for stopping by and all your kind comments. Enjoy this beautiful day.

Love,
Penny

It really is a let down having all the red and green, gold and silver tucked away and then whamo we have all this snow AND then the cold on top of that! YIKES . . .

The snow here just won't stop. They are promising a warm up for tomorrow so hopefully I can skip out to the store to stalk up the pantry!

I like your cozies on your blue jars. Happy they are warm!

I hope that cold is winding down and you are feeling chipper once again. Hopefully the weekend will bring you a bit of cheer.

My Bloglovin has been acting up, are you having any trouble?

Hugs to you Penny!
Love, Lynne

I like the way our house looks when all the glam is gone away. It's calm and peaceful just like winter. It's has been bitter cold here in IL hasn't it? I "met" you through Melanie from Comfy House and just started following you. I love connecting with bloggers from IL. they say this Saturday is going to be around 35 - a heat wave! Stay warm, hope you are back to your full self soon.

I know what you mean, it's so bare. BUT, the house looks HUGE, doesn't it? When we take our tree down the family room grows by about three times it's original size I swear! I'm having a bit of a winter slump, too, but we know this too shall pass. Kids finally going back to school tomorrow, thank God. Stay warm:)

Yes, the house always looks a little sad and bare when all the Christmas stuff is taken down, but then you get to cheer it all up again! I don't know if you saw my latest blog post, but I just showed my living room and how I "re-did" it. I love how you made cozies for your canning jars - those are too cute! I've been feeling very restless and not liking this new year much at all either...seems to be a common thread. What is going on with 2014?! I just sent your a private email, by the way. Oh - and sorry, I don't watch Downton Abby. Did watch The Poisoner's Handbook on PBS last night though because Claudia's (from Mockingbird Hill Cottage) husband starred in it. It was a great documentary!

I know it's winter, but I can see why you're having winter blues with all that snow in your part of the world. I know you will enjoy the latest 'Downton Abbey' series, It's finished on the Uk broadcasting which I see in France where I live. I can't wait for next series to start again . We did have a Christmas special episode, which I've just watched. Mr France recorded it for me as we were away for the Christmas holiday. I hope the snow storms have finished for you, I'm sure you are well prepared, so stay warm and keep blogging.
