Curiosity Has Landed!

Watching NASA TV, amazed that what can be imagined, can be achieved. Proud that my $7.00 (what it cost each American tax payer) was used for discovery and peace. Thinking that Curiosity looks a little like Wall E, and loving it!

Curiosity, The Mars Landing and Me

You have probably heard about the Mars landing and the good rover Curiosity. If you can believe, my dearest and I have a connection. Our names were etched on a computer chip that is attached to Curiosity. Thanks to my blog, I found my post about it.





Way back in October of 2010, as per a suggestion by my son Mike, I went to the NASA site and entered our names. For a space nerd like myself it's the coolest thing. I just hope some irate Martian doesn't come looking for us, asking why we are littering his planet... Godspeed Curiosity!

Farm Report

 

Here at the Willoughby Farm the harvest is going well in spite of the drought.

 

Considering these are just cherry tomatoes, and a tiny basket just half full is nothing to write home about. ;-) This is my very first crop of cherry tomatoes, and I was able to serve them to our guests last weekend to rave reviews.  I picked about 25 so far, delicious.


 

ZUCCHINI!  Never grew one before.  I have the best recipe for zucchini bread, the secret ingredient... orange zest!  Can't wait.

 

Rosemary loves the dry weather.


 

And a bumper crop of Zinnias.  Have a great weekend my friends!

To The Lake!

 

For our Anniversary we headed up north to our favorite spot in Mequon, Wisconsin.  Our Lake Michigan never disappoints. 


 

The color of the water reminded us of a certain small person we already miss so much, and her beautiful blue eyes...


 

From this spot we are really high above the Lake..see those two small dots...

 

When I zoom in you can see these objects, a man and his dog!


 

I've said it before and I'll say it again...It's the best vista of Lake Michigan.

 This trail leads right to a  dead end...a drop off the bluff!  Yikes!

 My dearest, enjoying our day out.

Even at lunch we were reminded of our anniversary... It was a great way to shake off the empty house blues.  Enjoy this beautiful day.

A Visit with Penny

We are on staycation this week, listening to the quiet here at home after the festivities of last weekend.





It was a busy weekend with visits from family and friends all to meet this baby buritto!




Grandpa and Grandma kissed and kissed sweet p's velvet cheeks.

Before we knew it, they were back home... Empty arms, full heart!

Exciting news, Mike's band, Unwritten Truth is playing in Milwaukee at the Warp Tour. They are a last minute addition on one of the big stages! Mike is passionate about his music. It's so exciting to see him live out his dreams. Rock On Mike...we love you!
