My sweetheart and I went to the to see a holiday fireworks show at the local mall. It may be my new favorite holiday tradition. It was an amazing show, and though it was really cold outside, it just made the experience more magical. Are you familiar with George Winston? The song Walking in the Air is on his album, Forest. How about the animated movie "The Snowman?" Well, this snowman that a young boy makes with the first winter's snow, comes alive. (not unlike Frosty;-) Anywho, the snowman takes the boy flying to the North Pole...They see the Northern Lights (I saw them once, right here in Chicagoland on November 5th, 2001, I took it off my bucket list, so I don't have to go to the Arctic Circle) and that's what the fireworks reminded me of last night. That's why I choose the music Walking in the Air. It was a MAGICAL night, and I know I use that word around here sometimes, but it really was like flying, or the coolest dream. I hope you get a tiny bit of that feeling with my Video! And yes, I cried! Have a great weekend.

At the Auction
Our Women's Club held it's annual Labor of Love Auction. We had so many beautiful handcrafted items. I just wanted to show you a few. The beautiful still life painting is by my dear pal and inspiration Shirley. Every year we wait to see what she will create, and it's always amazing...
Sorry that I don't know the names of most artisans. This talented women works in glass. The Madonna is hand painted and fused onto glass...
There were many quilts and quilted items...
The evening had a tailgate theme... This beanbag game made the most money for the club.
It didn't seem right that a game would make more money than some of the beautiful crafts that took hours of work and tons of talent. So goes an auction. You never know what things will be popular.
There was something for everyone...
... even the smallest sports fan. This burp cloth and bib set were made by my friend Mary Anne at Grammy on the Go. She has a custom embroidery business and makes the cutest baby things. She is the kindest lady, and has made many items for our little bird.
Speaking of birds, charming ornaments from the glass artist.
Can you imagine the hours that went into this cross stitch hummingbird?
I donated this "Tipton" inspired vintage linen pillow...
this scarf...
and two small containers with a hand crocheted washcloth and 2 wrapped soaps.
One of the containers made $20 for our club. One of my crazy guild sisters bought it. (Love you Jane!)
The centerpieces were so cute, and the snacks were tailgate fare...fritos and chili in the bag, beer and
pretzels. Guild 4 did a great job hosting this event.
This is what I bought...no one bid on this burlap Santa and angel. My SIL Elizabeth brought it to get rid of it for her sister. It ended up on the auction table... Now I have to think of a way to get it back to my SIL;-)... Have a great weekend my friends. Thanks for visiting. Fair warning....SOLD!

Potpourri
I baked Mikey a delicious cake. Death by Chocolate on the inside...(is there any chocolate in this cake? Family joke;-) and caramel frosting with chopped pecans on the top. A Death by Turtle Cake!!
Just the aroma is full of calories.
I'm still hooked on the youtube videos. This is a card that is now hot in Europe, anyway that's what they said on the video. I needed a few small thank your gifts for some ladies that help out with our service projects. One sheet of 12x12 paper and your scoring board, a little double sided tape. This is my first attempt.
Last but not least...I said we were doing some things around the house to spruce up the place for the holidays. New floor and new fixture installed in our tiny bath. All the accessories are rummage sale finds. The $3 wicker cabinet, the swan prints, $1 each...even the curtain was a tablecloth that I picked up for less than a dollar.
The countdown is at 16 days till Thanksgiving, but I really am grateful EVERYDAY! Thanks for visiting!

Happy Birthday Mikey
Be still my heart... My baby boy is a man now. A talented musician and songwriter, kind, sweet, funny, caring, smart, tough looking on the outside, marshmallow soft on the inside guy. It's a big week for Mike, with a CD release party at a local venue. A CD he helped write and performs on, with his band. Living a dream! May all your dreams come true Mike. Happy Happy
Joy Joy... we love you so!

Autumn's Art
"From a sapphire decanter...
she poured on the sky...
A colorful spectacle, kind to the eye.
Then for a quaint encore...
she piped a sweet tune...
while placing a halo...
above the bright moon."
So grateful for the beauty of the world, right outside my door. Have a great weekend my friends!
The verse is from the poem, Autumn's Art by Joyce Inman Moore
