Weekend Update/Baby It's Cold Outside Edition

We spent the weekend checking off a list of to do's. Hubby gave blood first thing on Saturday. Headed to Barrington to drop off a item for a friend. To the Apple store to try to get our son's IPad repaired. (They would not repair a broken screen, but tried to sell us a refurbished one...$$$. There is a place in the city that will repair it, but it's not an Apple store. First time I was ever disappointed in the service at Apple.) To our favorite nursery for firewood...hardware store for an extension cord...drug store ... Then stopped at the local thrift as a treat for being good squirrels like Jean and Tom. (Our friends, Jean and Tom do more by 9am than most people do all day.;-)

I found this awesome barkcloth fabric. Almost two yards.

You can see in the salvage it is a Grandma Moses print. A little research found it is from the fifties. It is so charming and sought after by vintage fabric collectors. I had no idea what I had when I picked it from a rack of Christmas linens for $1.99. I will finish the raw edges and use it as a tablecloth for my kitchen island, and enjoy it's vintage charm.

I found this pretty jar. Did your Mom have pretty jars on her dresser when you were young? My Mom did. One had Coty loose face powder in it. The others trinkets.
This jar is from Avon face cream, and will hold...trinkets!

One more find, for my grand baby. Penny recently went to the doctor and loved playing with a dollhouse there. A good scrubbing and this one will be at Grandma's house for fun pretend time. (In usual fashion, this grandma spent $4 on the doll house and $15 for little people to inhabit the house...the things we do for love!)

We had four inches of snow yesterday. We spent some time on the roads close to home and saw many accidents. We shoveled the driveway early in the afternoon and in good Midwestern snowstorm fashion, it looked exactly the same when we finished as when we started.Thank God for a warm home, a pot of soup for dinner and everyone in the family at their respective homes safe.

Here's the last of the decorating, and the reason I needed a short extension cord...a lighted wreath on my garbage picked door. Ta daaa!

I might be delirious, but I am really enjoying this Christmas season. I know crunch time is upon me, but for right now, with a blanket of snow outside, and a sleeping hubby warm and sweet next to me...I am feeling all Christmasy. Maybe I was right, I am delirious. It's 2:30 am...or I could be dreaming!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Enjoy this beautiful day.

Love, Penny

What in the world were you doing up and awake at 2:30 in the morning, my friend? Brian and I ran several errands out in the snow yesterday, too. He said he wanted to get everything done. Probably a good idea since we have a busy week. I love the dollhouse you found for Sweet P...she will love it!

Love your tree, snowy days, the sound of shovels on the driveway more than snow blower sound, giving blood, bitter cold, snow, snow, snow, doll house and little people to play with . . . grandma Moses fabric . . . very nice find Penny . . . and I love you too!
