chalk painting party

I may be late to the party, or the party may be over. I may be the last blogger to use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, but I finally did. Back a few weeks, I purchased some paint...just wanted to try it on this small table I thrifted.

Then hubby found this for me...a tool trug.

Just the sample size of Duck Egg.

This is one coat and a coat of wax. I bought my wax from the hardware store...it does change the color a bit and really smells up the house! I also used a rag and not the wax brush to apply the wax. I just can't seem to follow directions. It was still a pleasing result.

I did a little distressing. The color is very nice, hard to photograph late in the day. I can't say I'm a believer. Maybe I've just painted too many pieces with my favorite Ace brand latex. There is another project and another color, but that will have to wait for another day.

My little ones will be spending some time with Auntie Penny while Grandma Elizabeth works at the florist. It's their busiest time all year. The girls will keep me busy and delight me with their happy smiles and funny antics.

This morning the birds were really singing. I guess they don't mind single digit temperatures. Maybe they just know that Spring is close... We've almost made it through the worst winter in recent memory. Maybe I just jinxed us! Well, No winter lasts forever, no Spring misses it's turn. Fingers crossed!

Enjoy this beautiful day!

Love, Penny

You're definitely not the last blogger to try chalk paint - I haven't either! I am terrible at painting furniture and I know the Annie Sloan brand of chalk paint is very expensive, so I'm not wasting money on that, lol. In fact, right now I have a kitchen chair in the basement that I've been spray-painting white, and even that isn't turning out well. That shows what a terrible painter I am if I can't even spray paint, lol.

I love the texture and the ease of using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. My issue is that I have to drive 40 minutes to buy any. I know I can have it delivered, but then I can't look at the colors.

My favorite pieces done with ASCP are pieces that have had several different colors of paint. I love when I sand the piece and all the different colors pop out.''

Your little tool box looks cute.

I'm a late comer too when it comes to ASCP. Probably because I haven't found a piece that I love enough to spend so much $$ for a can of paint. I'm breaking down though because I found a place in Lagrange that sells it and I really want to try it! I'm also leaning towards trying some milk paint. I just found a tool box also and can't wait to paint it a pretty color for outside to hold flowers. However, my husbands friend was eyeballing it the last time he was over because he's a contractor and wanted it for his tools. Does he not realize it's for holding flowers these days?! Thank you for sharing!
