Oh What a Night...

from left to right
Sue and Ron, Dot and Kev, Nancy and Bruce, Sue and my hubby, Laury and me
On Saturday, we had a reunion of sorts.  These are my friends.  They have known me forever. We graduated from grade school together, all through high school we sang in a folk group, then founded a  choir.  We couldn't get a date...except of course Sue and Ron who started dating in 1968!   We cried over broken hearts, had endless conversations on who to take to the dance.  We were together when we met our spouses, partied at "The Cottage" skied every weekend. We stood up to each others weddings, watched our families grow.   Some of the best days of my life have been spent with this group, and one of those days was Saturday.  After a week filled with text messages, "Are you wearing the same thing to the Church as to the reception?"  I was thrilled to be seeing everyone again.    We were all meeting for the wedding of
Sue and Ron's beautiful daughter Kim.

The best part about old friends is that no time has passed, no matter how long since your last visit.  Oh, and you become 16 again just being in their presence.  Sue and I have been close forever.  She makes me laugh, shares all my memories, knows my heart.  I love to hear her laugh. This is the kind of thing that happens when we are together... When we walked into Church I saw the photographer...he was a really cute young guy...the kind you notice when you are 16, or 16 going on 57!  Of course I had to point him out to Sue. Every time he came by, Sue gave me the look...The same look we have been sharing for 44 years every time we see a "cute" guy.  At the end of the evening, I went up to the cute photographer, and asked if I could take his picture.  (Something I never could have done at 16, but at 57, what the heck!  He was very sweet, and posed for the nice old lady.)  I sent it to Sue's phone under the heading of, "my boyfriend". If we had only had this technology when we were young!  When Sue saw the photo, we had a great laugh.  At the end of the night on our way home, I texted both Sue's, (no, it is not confusing at all, they both have nick names) to tell them I had the best time and that I loved them.  When I got home
I had a message from Sue on my phone.  Sue had sent me back the photo of the cute photographer
with the caption, "sweet dreams!"  LOL I love that girl!

"If I had a day that I could give to you,
I'd give to you a day just like today..."
John Denver

We danced the night away, laughed, smiled till my cheeks hurt. We danced as couples, in a group, the line dance where everyone goes up the middle.  We danced slow and fast
and to techno music and Motown music.
Hubby and I danced and danced and then danced some more. We were silly and happy and having great fun.  Something happens when we are all together... It's like being in a time machine...
 We closed down the place...
Not wanting to leave, not knowing when we'll all be together again.

This is the beautiful bride and her sweet groom.  It was a lovely wedding, a beautiful ceremony, the best reception ever!  Sharing it with the dearest of friends, priceless!

I Love you guys!

Back to some crafting and baking and blogging soon.  Enjoy this beautiful day.

Wow, Penny, how blessed are you? I have dear sweet old friends too but they live so far away. It's so great that you all could get together. And the bride is beautiful!

Well, I guess I'd be the famous Sue that Penny is talking about! I'm sure everyone reading this already knows what a SPECIAL person Penny is. As she said, we have known each other since 1968 (OMG) and even though we now live over 2,000 miles away from each other :-(, when we do see each other, we are the same 16 year old, love-sick, teenagers making each other laugh at the silliest things ("did you see the way he looked at me?". We will always be BFFs!! I feel SO lucky to have this special lady in my life. Love ya Pal :-) P.S. 'sweet dreams'
