Pin Cushions & Stuff

It was the perfect day to craft since it's been rainy since I woke up, and so dark and dreary. I cranked up the Christmas music and got to work.

I've been playing with these for a while.  Little vintage tins from my SIL Elizabeth.  I wanted to make them into pin cushions.   Inspired by dear Dawn of The Feathered Nest who makes the most beautiful things dripping with laces and ribbon and amazing stuff.

I started with circles of felted wool in a creamy white and gathered and stuffed and pulled the gathers until it fit perfectly into the vintage tin.  I used Aleene's glue for this step, and weighted them down with a book or two until they dried.

I should have stayed with the Aleene's since I am now sporting two blistered thumbs from a hot glue accident.  Ouch!  Anyway, I added some tea stained lace, some brooches, a few pearl pins.  I'm not sure if they will be gifts, or go to my club's auction for the sale table.

This little number is for the smallest member of Team Beekman.   Wouldn't it be something for Kristen to run into Brent or Josh on the street in Manhattan when Penny is wearing this!
(Remember when Kristen did run in to Brent on the street... I love that story...)

Now to clean up after myself...I saw somewhere that it's called a craftastrophe!  The aftermath of a day of crafting.  I enjoyed every minute.  Have a great day my friends, and thanks for visiting.

Rainy day crafting . . . isn't that the best! The felted white wool and lace pin cushions are charming. Rainy day predicted again today . . . if you are back at it . . . careful with those fingers!

Oh Penny, your pincushions are just BEAUTIFUL!!! Thank you so much for the link love, it always makes me so happy if I can inspire someone to create ~ and I love that you cranked up the Christmas music too!!! I love Fabri-tac glue...it dries fast, kinda like hot glue without the heat :) you can find it a w-mart, michaels and hob lob (take a coupon though for those two!) Wishing you a wonderful fall weekend dear friend, hugs and love, Dawn

Very cute idea. Those glue gun burns really hurt.
Love the little shirt for Penny.

What a great idea for the tins! I have a bunch of them, use them to store charms and beads for my jewelry, guess I just like having them around:) Yours are beautiful. So glad you had a good day of crafting!

of course like your web-site but you need to take a look at
the spelling on several of your posts. Many of them are rife with spelling problems and
I in finding it very troublesome to tell the truth
nevertheless I’ll surely come again again.
