Up on the Roof...Deux
At 7 am the first guys parked on our street, followed by a large truck/dumpster/lift. Before we knew it, workers were on the roof tearing off the layers of old roofing. The noise was frightening! I expected them to come through the old roof.
These guys know their stuff, and worked like a well oiled machine.
We put out a cooler of iced water bottles out, but they didn't slow down for hours.
Oh course it was one of our first truly hot days.
I did get out of Dodge for a while, the noise was making me anxious and I was worried about the poor guys on our roof in the heat.
By the time I returned 26 or so sheets of plywood were replaced and the beautiful brown multi toned shingles went up.
It is a transformation!
Our roof was installed by Raby Roofing a local family owned company. The reason we choose them goes back almost 20 years. When we first moved into our home, we had a small problem on the roof from a storm. The whole house fan cover blew off along with a couple of shingles. We called so many companies, and none would come out for such a small job, except for Raby! We were so grateful, I promised when we did need to replace our roof, we would remember Raby. With recent hail damage in the neighborhood, dozens of roofers rang our bell, but there was no forgetting the customer service we received on that first small job.
The damage to our house actually happened in February. A fifty mile an hour snowstorm took dozens of shingles off our roof. Since it was the back of the house that took the brunt of the damage and we had so much snow, we didn't find half of the shingles until late spring when the snow melted. There was so much damage in the midwest after our long winter, adjusters were called on from Texas to assessed our damage.
The roof was completed in SEVEN HOURS! Cleaned up, photographed...they even swept the deck with a large magnet to make sure they got all the nails! A great experience. And this old house, she never looked better! Just imagine her after a coat of paint...but that will have to wait...maybe next summer...
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy this beautiful day!

Looks fantastic Penny, really like the shingle color!
Nothing like Great Customer Service . . . a dying art!
Hold on to Raby . . . they have served you very well!
But then, look what kind, wonderful people you and Mr. AHIEV are . . .
I think it's awesome that you stayed true to your word to a company for 20 years! I can't believe how fast they worked, too. Seven hours for that big of a job is really quick.
