Thrifting With Melanie

I met with Melanie from Comfy House for a morning at the local Goodwill.  We really have a
great time together.  Mel and I look at everything, and see different things.  Our tastes are different,
but we both know a  "good thing" when we see it.  If I don't want it, I ask Mel, and she does the same.
This makes for a very pleasant and informative time.  Melanie is very smart and well read, with a great sense of humor. We shop and talk about all kinds of topics.  Though we haven't been friends for a very long time,
we are getting to know each other pretty well.  It's a pleasure to spend time together.

So... these are my finds from our outing.

This brown Pyrex bowl.  I don't know what the holidays are like at your house,
but there are never enough serving bowls. Mom had one in orange that she
used to serve Au gratin potatoes.  I've seen them for up to $7, but this one was just $2.

Last time we thrifted together, Melanie found some beautiful transfer ware plates...
I thought of them when I picked up this beauty.

Then I looked it up as all good thrifters do...
I got mine for $1.99.

I picked up this candle...I love the Door County Candle Company candles.
I was oblivious to the fact that it was in Green Bay colors, even after it
was pointed out by an employee. I bought it anyway after just mentioning to
Melanie that I couldn't justify purchasing a jar candle for over $25, no
matter how long they last.    This one has a cinnamon spicy scent and the price was right at $3.99.
I will hide it's colors in a container and promise not to burn it on game day...Go Bears!

This little crate, wood burned with Galena Canning Co.

How did I miss this book by Jan Karon?

Just thought I'd throw in this new shawl I bought at the Wally Mart.  So pretty, really dresses up a
plain top and pants, or as a table runner.

On a sad note, Melanie lost her Grandfather yesterday. She got a call from her Mom with the news just after our visit. Sending out comfort and love to my friend and her family.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great Autumn weekend my friends.

Lovely thrift finds! I'm so sorry about Melanie's loss. I 'know' her myself and was her sister for a season in a group we both belonged to. I'll stop by her page on facebook and commiserate. So glad you posted it here, I hadn't seen a thing yet!

I love all of the treasures you found...the china is my favorite and something I just gravitate to. Melanie and I are great friends and have met since I live in the area. So sorry about her grandfather.

You sound so nice, please stop by some time! :)

XO,
Jane

You are too kind with your compliments about me, Penny - I'm blushing! I love spending time with you and getting to know you better, too. And we always find some great treasures together, don't we? Thank you for your condolences about my grandpa; I just finished a blog post about him. And please do visit my friend, Jane's blog (above)! She's another sweet woman that you should get to know. :-)
